As part of a Weekend, organised by the Linenhall Library in partnership with Down Civic Arts Centre and Downpatrick Library, to celebrate the life and work of leading Irish writer Michael McLaverty, the Ulster History Circle unveiled a Blue Plaque at his home on the Lecale coast, between Kilcief and Ballyhornan.

Many of the leading figures in Irish letters attended, including Seamus Heaney (Nobel Laureate), Michael Longley (Poet), Sophia Hillen (McLaverty's biographer) and others. These photographs give a brief flavour of that event.
