Blue Plaque for Professor Robert Mitchell Henry - 18 June 2009

The Circle's 107th plaque, in honour of the distinuished academic and university administrator, was unveiled by the Vice Chancellor of Queens University of Belfast, Professor Peter Gregson. The gathering included Sir Peter Froggatt, a former Vice Chancellor, Dr David Gallagher, Senior Vice Principal of Methodist College, Belfast, where Henry was educated and Professor Patrick Murphy, Heritage Lottery Fund.

Wesley McCann, member of the Ulster History Circle, gave a wide-ranging talk on Professor Henry and his work and interests. Professor Murphy recalled using the Henry Collection during his student days. Jim Edgar, on behalf of Belfast City Council, described the value of its partnership with the Circle in promoting tourism in Belfast. Vice Chancellor Professor Gregson thanked The Circle, the City Council and the Heritage Lottery Fund for the work involved in preparing the event.
