Blue Plaque for Stewart Parker - 21 April 2009

A fine spring morning it was, sunny with a slight nip in the air, when people from all over the country arrived in Larkfield Road in East Belfast to honour a local lad who had a major impact on the theatre before his career was cut short by tragedy. His neice Lynne Parker performed the unveiling ceremony after speaking of him wih affection and reading from one of his poems. Other speakers included Kate Newmann and Eleanor Methven. The intrusion of aircraft taking off from the nearby City Airport did not dampen the spirit of the occasion.
