Blue plaque for Francis Maginn - 21 April 2011

It was a busy day for Brian Symington, overseeing a wide range of activities to commemorate the 150 anniversary of the birth of Francis Maginn. It was also the day he retired after over 30 years in the Royal National Institute for the Dead.

Wesley McCann, Chairman of the Ulster History Circle, spoke about the role of the Circle in honouring people of distinction. Brian Symington and Jeff McWhinney both spoke of the importance of the work that Francis Maginn had done in setting up the National Institute and in the development of signing.
