A Blue Plaque for Robert 1 (the Bruce) : Saturday 23 June 2007

The 700th anniversary of Robert the Bruce's 'exile' on Rathlin Island was celebrated by a Festival on the island on the weekend of 22 to 24 June. One of the events in the Festival was the unveiling of the Ulster History Circle's Blue Plaque on Saturday 23rd. The ceremony was performed by Lord Bruce, son of the Earl of Elgin, the 37th Chief of the Bruce family.
