Blue Plaque for Viscount Macartney - 28 May 2008

The Mackie family in the newly restored buildings at Lisanoure castle were hosts to the unveiling of the plaque to Viscount Macartney on a fine spring day. The expected rain stayed away and a family atmosphere ensured that the proceedings were an enjoyable occasion. Macartney's biographer, Peter Roebuck provided an interesting outline of the eventful life and colourful career of an able man who had made his mark in areas all over the world.
